Three men in one night!

CONNECTING WITH THE BALLS: Now I know why athletes don't drink while they're training. After last night, Jeff and I couldn't play tennis this morning for anything. I can't even say it was the sun in my eye or a hole in my racket. I missed shots by more than several feet; it was sad. Then this afternoon I get a quick phone call from a couple of the girls in South Carolina. Caroline and Megan went out to a bar for a bucket of beer and they ran into a friend of ours. Who better to drink with than a highway patrolman? I wish I had been there for that.

HELLO, LOVAH: Speaking of phone calls... we heard from Nick tonight! For those of you who don't know him, he's one of our good friends from BGSU. First he told me how much he missed me, and then he asked Jeff how he can be living with a hot chick without sleeping with her. (That's why I love Nick!)

VEGAS, BABY: Talking to Nick got us thinking about some of our other favorite BG people so we put in a phone call to Dougie. (Background: Besides all of those drunken nights at the Brat, the three of us have a history that includes one memorable night in Chicago.) To our pleasant surprise, a drunk Winger answered the phone. Winger and Dougie were like the friends who knew each other so well that they bickered like an old married couple on their favorite barstools. Apparently, Dougie is in BG this weekend for the wedding of one of his friends and partying hard. I guess he missed the memo that I left S.C. but he promised to make it up to me by going to Las Vegas this fall with Jeff and me.

Jeff: All I can say about this post is, God bless strip poker.

Scoop!

Today was a catch-up day for me. I was up at 6:30 a.m. and headed for the post office to mail a letter. I know that's early but I haven't been able to sleep in yet. Later in the morning Jeff and I played tennis again. I think it's a sport I may actually be able to stick with. I'm good at chasing down balls (minds out of the gutter please) and I have a pretty decent forehand when I can control it. Jeff says I have the "scoop" part down. I guess that means I'm following through like I should be.

As far as the rest of my day I spent it cleaning, doing laundry and dishes. I looked up some jobs too, but I kept getting distracted by the Lifetime movie marathon I decided to watch. (I know... not a smart idea but those cheesy stories are so addictive.) I needed to put my feet up anyway because the bottoms of them are itching like crazy. I don't know if it's from all the extra walking or because I burnt them yesterday walking around the pool. (Concrete gets very hot!) Either way, I'm sucking it up because we're talking about hiking tomorrow. I just can't forget the sunscreen.
