Jack and Karen: Coast to Coast

I'm handing out lollypops and ass whoopins' today, and I'm all out of lollypops!

We have been without a computer at home for the past week so I’ll quickly recap. (Unfortunately, unemployment tends to muddle the days so I can’t tell you exactly when some stuff happened.)
Last Friday, I tagged along with Jeff to Amy and Sal’s engagement party. (See previous post.) It was fun, and I’ve now met enough of Jeff’s co-workers to require some sort of list. We all know I have a problem with long-term memory. In college, my roomies and I came up with a Guy Glossary which was basically a list of guys we met with a brief description of their physical characteristics and how we met so we could keep them straight. (Not to be confused with the Little Black Book.) I’m thinking I flipbook made with Poloroids including names and job titles might be the best way to go here because it could be months before I run into some of these people again.
While at the party, I got invited to a Stanford University football game on Saturday. Even though I’m not a huge sports fan, I love the atmosphere at those kinds of events. It was a lot fun and a great place to people-watch. Besides, where else is it OK to have a hot dog and Cracker Jacks for dinner?
Job searching is as tedious as usual. I’ve been reserving a computer at the library for a couple hours every day and I’m getting quite a list of possible opportunities. The advantage of changing careers (a wider variety of job possibilities) is often dampened by the disadvantage of changing careers (limited experience). However, I refuse to be discouraged so the search continues.
I found a new motivation for staying in shape – a new black corset top. It cuts a good inch or two off my waist without stopping airflow to my lungs. This is all very well and good especially since it makes the top and bottom halves of my body look more in proportion. Unfortunately, a little weight gain through the middle could change all that before I have a chance to wear it. What else? Oh, Jeff and I think we have the TiVo figured out. We switched from digital cable to basic cable which allowed us to get rid of the cable box. Add a splitter and we’re now able to watch one channel and record another. Considering the lineup of shows we want to watch, we still might miss a few that overlap but it’s better than what we had before.

Death to TiVo! Randi and I are getting a DVR...with no need for a splitter! Yay for Randi's new job that will pay for our TV fix!
