Don’t you know that they're toxic?

Wow… it’s been awhile. Let’s see. Still job searching. The only things I’ve done worth mentioning are going dancing Friday and going to the Dew Action Sports Tour on Saturday. Jeff and I went to this bar in Mountain View looking quite fabulous if I do say so myself. (I wore a sleeveless black shirt, blue skirt and black flip-flops.) It was great, and my only complaint was that a girl wearing thick heels stepped on me. I'm lucky to have walked away with just a nasty bruise beneath my ankle. Jeff worked Saturday so I decided to watch freestyle motocross and BMX Park competitions that were in town. I don’t care what anyone says… those guys are athletes. I’m not comfortable riding fast on a bike and here they are doing flips and twists and all kinds of cool tricks. (Do you know what “dead body” and “one-handed Superman” are? What about “tailwhip flair” or “double barspin backflip?” I do and I'm in awe.) Besides the tricks, the riders choose their own music to play during their rides. The majority chose new or classic rock songs but 19-year-old BMXer Scotty Cranmer, who was leading after the prelims, chose Britney Spears’ “Toxic.” I found that fascinating and apparently it works; he ended up in second place. Congrats to Jeremy “Twitch” Stenberg for winning the freestyle motocross competition and to Dave Mirra (pictured mid-trick) for pulling out a win in the BMX Park Finals. I especially enjoyed the BMX portion so thanks to Mirra, Cranmer, Ryan Nyquist, Tom Haugen, Ryan Guettler, Allan Cooke and the rest of the riders for a great show. I won’t try any of those tricks at home, but I’ll definitely check out any other competitions that come to the area. (Photo by Bo Bridges at www.dewactionsportstour.com.)
